In January 2018, the Odesa matitime merchandise port managed to handle a total of 1.78 million tons of cargo, indicating a 10.1% decrease from the figure exhibited in January 2017, Interfax-Ukraine reports. On the other hand, Chornomorsk seaport increased cargo handling by 47.5% in year-on-year terms, to 1.84 million tons.
According to the preliminary data published by the Ukrainian Sea Port Authority, within the aforementioned period cut transshipment of export cargo by 20%, to 1.295 million tons, while handling of imported cargo grew by 70.6%, to 378,000 tons, and transit cargo transshipment.
Odesa port is located on an area of 109.5 hectares. The port services vessels with lengths of up to 270 meters and maximum draughts of 13 meters. The total length of the port's berths exceeds eight kilometers.

Chornomorsk port is a universal international port, one of the largest on the Black Sea. The enterprise has specialized terminals and systems, which allow overloading a wide range of goods: liquid, bulk, general. Its 29 berths are capable of receiving ships with a carrying capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes. The annual designed capacity of the port is more than 30 million tonnes. The port's capacity of container handling is 1.15 million TEU. Since 2007 the port has been capable of providing the simultaneous accepting of three ocean-going container ships with a capacity of more than 5,000 TEU and a length of up to 300 meters.
