A study of Ukrainian officials’ income declarations conducted by Opendatabot revealed that 57 civil servants had declared more than 21,000] as intangible assets over the period of the previous two years, UNIAN reports.

The majority of cryptocurrency holders turned out to be members of the Odesa regional council and the National Parliament of Ukraine. Another study finds that in 2017, the most cryptocurrency declared by Ukrainian officials was bitcoin cash, according to Bitcoin.com.

“According to the research, officials have a total of 21,128 bitcoins,” RBC reported, noting that the figure is merely an estimate and does not include altcoins or any other crypto assets declared in the national currency.

The National Bank of Ukraine currently does not recognize bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies as legitimate means of payment. A number of bills regarding the regulation of cryptocurrencies in Ukraine have been submitted, but none of them were passed.
