Germany to allocate 200 000 euros for demining of Balakliya

The State Emergency Service of UkraineGermany will allocate 200 000 euros for demining of the unexploded ammunition in Balakliya, Kharkiv region as the press service of the Embassy of Germany to Ukraine reported.
'The federal government furthers the clearance of Balakliya from the unexploded ammunition. It provides the support to the largest organization on the anti-mine activity NALO by the purchase of the armored vehicles that can efficiently defuse and liquidate the explosive ammunition that were scattered all over great territory after the explosions on March 23, 2017. Germany will allocate 200 000 for this, the message said.
The Embassy noted that Germany supports Ukraine in the demining of the East of Ukraine since 2016 and spent 1.5 million euros for this.
As 112 International reported, a series of powerful blasts took place at an ammunition storage facility in Kharkiv region on late March 23. The incident occurred near the town of Balakliya. Many of the locals were evacuated from the town and its vicinities. The fire caused by the blasts was finally extinguished the day after that, by evening of March 24. Numerous casualties and even a fatality were reported.
