Waszczykowski: Ukraine has "used" Poland for too long
Poland for a long time unconditionally supported Ukraine in terms of its security. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski on air of Polish radio Trojka.
However, recently Warsaw recognized that Kyiv "uses" it in the expectation that this support will never dry up.
"Before we clenched our teeth, because taking into account our military and political doctrine and safety of keeping Ukraine independent is priceless. We recognized that we are being used, that Ukraine is looking at this problem quite light-heartedly and goes out of the calculation that we will certainly support security and independence of Ukraine, stand on its side in the conflict with Russia and not demand the solution of bilateral problems - historical or educational, " Waszczykowski said.
He added that Poland openly says: "Russian aggression cannot be an excuse not to solve bilateral problems."
The head of Polish diplomacy noted that the "bone of disagreement" in the bilateral relations is history, "to a certain extent" education, and the return of church property to the Polish community in Ukraine - churches and parish houses.
Waszczykowski stressed that after his visit to Lviv on November 4-5 he wants to meet with the Polish president, Andrzej Duda, but "he does not have optimistic news for the president."

Waszczykowski noted that Duda has to decide whether to go to Ukraine in mid-December, "but the situation remains rather complicated."
As it was reported earlier Polish government expects more active steps from Ukraine, when it comes to historical reconciliation and dealing with the current manifestations of ethnic hatred. Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said this commenting on the recent statement released by Ukraine’s foreign ministry.
‘This statement claims there is no anti-Polish spirit in the Ukrainian society, which we definitely hail, but we expect solid steps to be made in terms of historical reconciliation. We take note of the separate incidents and certain individuals acting with hostility,’ he told the press in Lviv, western Ukraine.
The minister added that Poland ‘has been open to settling the bilateral issues with Ukraine for quite a while already – including solution of the current issues in Ukraine-Poland relations.’
