Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7

Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7 Samsung Electronics is recalling its new flagship Galaxy Note 7 after a numerous reports that some of the premium phones are catching fire due to battery problems, company confirmed in its Friday statement.

"We have received several reports of battery explosion on the Note 7 that was officially launched on August 19... and it has been confirmed that it was a battery cell problem," Samsung's president Koh Dong-jin told reporters.

“In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue,” the statement said.

According to the statement, on September 1 there were 35 globally reported cases about phone "exploding" during or after charging. As a response the company is “currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market.”

Samsung will halt the sales of its smartphones and will prepare replacement devices for phones already sold after finding problems with the battery cell used. The firms said it would take about two weeks to prepare replacement devices.
