Tusk condemns Russia's decision to issue passports to Ukrainians in Donbas

The European Union condemns Russia’s decision to issue Russian citizenship to the Ukrainians who live on the occupied territory of Donbas or citizens of Crimean origin, as it contradicts with Minsk Agreements, as President of the European Council Donald Tusk said at the joint briefing with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
“We condemn Russia’s decision to issue Russian citizenship to the Ukrainians who live on the occupied territory of Donbas or citizens of Crimean origin, as it contradicts with Minsk Agreements. We urge for immediate release of the Ukrainian citizens who were illegally detained in Russia and Crimea including 24 Ukrainian sailors,” Tusk noted.
He added that EU was ready to continue working on the implementation of the agreement of EU-Ukraine association, it has already led to positive results in trade, investments, which are good for our nations.
“EU will continue providing financial aid to Ukrainian reforms despite war in Donbas and Russian aggression. We have also discussed further threats to Ukraine’s security. EU will continue supporting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Tusk noted.
