EU sees Ukraine as partner in project on creating energy unionThe European Union considers Ukraine as a partner in the project on creating the Energy Union.

Vice-President of the EU Commission Maros Sefcovic in charge of Energy Union said during his speech in the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington on Thursday, Ukrinform reports.

“When we are speaking about the energy union, we understand we can’t consider here only us alone within the European Union. As I have repeatedly said, the energy union doesn’t end at the border of the European Union. We understand that such countries as Ukraine, Moldova, the Eastern Balkan countries, our Mediterranean partners are eager to participate in this project,” the vice president of the EU Commission said.

According to him, the EU is also focusing on partners’ assistance, in particular, Ukraine.

The EU Energy Union is an integrated program embracing a rage of legislative, administrative and technological solutions aimed at promoting the creation of a single European energy market, the creation of a full-scale energy infrastructure, which will ensure the largest decrease in foreign dependence and the formation of consolidated position of EU member state in the sphere of energy.
