The international team (involving Australia, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Belgium and Ukraine) on investigation into MH17 crash in Donbas has abandoned its efforts to set up international tribunal by the decision of the UN Security Council.
Ambassador of the Netherlands to Russia Ron van Dartel stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti Russian media outlet.
According to him, Russia's veto at the UN Security Council put an end to attempts to set up the tribunal.
"That put the end to efforts to establish the tribunal, and now we are looking for the alternative," the diplomat said.
He noted that the member countries of the international investigation team now discussed the possible options.
Among the alternatives, the ambassador mentioned the investigation by the International Criminal Court as well as interstate trial by countries involved in the international investigation group.
