Ukraine’s National Police has released an ‘unruly ghost-bus’ to Ukrainian roads. The purpose of the project is to draw attention to the safety on the roads and importance of abiding to traffic rules, as the police press service reported Friday.
The launch of a ‘ghost-bus’ is the second stage of the project “Drive,” which started in 2017 with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM).

“The bus was designed to make impression like there is no driver in it,” the police explained.
According to the head of patrol police Oleksandr Fatsevych, with a help of this project, law enforcers ask all road users to be responsible and comply with traffic rules.
“This bus will travel the country to show that sometimes drivers can be irresponsible. If a peson drives or just walking along the road, he must consider the consequences. We believe that fines and punishment are the last resort in influencing the driver,” Fatsevych noted.
As it was reported earlier, In Ukraine, on October 15, the pilot project during which the drivers who exceed the speed limit were not fined but verbally warned about the consequences of such actions has ended. Starting from October 16, the police began to fine such drivers.
From October 8, Ukrainian police has been monitoring the road traffic in Kyiv and in many regions across the country, using the TruCam surveillance systems. The TruCam devices are set next to the road signs warning of photo and video recording of safety violations, on the certain sections of international highways and in the cities where the high level of road accident hazard is observed. Service transport vehicles with blue flash beacons will be there, too.
