Ukrainian athlete Yevhen Oleksenko claimed a silver medal in the powerlifting at the Invictus Games as the Ukrainian team reported on Facebook.
“Yevhen is the Donbas Conflict veteran, he participated in the fights near Donetsk Airport, near Pisky, Opytne, Vodiane. Before the war, he was engaged in the powerlifting. Yevhen came to Sydney to become useful for the country again, this time, not at the battlefield but at the sports arena. And his dream came true, today he won a silver medal at the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 presented by Jaguar Land Rover in the powerlifting.

On October 23, Ukrainian athlete Olexandr Havrylenko won a gold medal in the powerlifting. He made three attempts and each of them was record-breaking – 165 kg, 172 kg, and finally 177 kg.
Earlier we reported that Ukrainian athletes Oleksandr Bilobokov and Serhiy Ilnytsky won the gold medals at the Invictus Games indoor rowing competition. Another bronze went to Ukraine's chest, as Denys Fishchuk got the medal at the bicycle race event.

The Invictus Games kicked off in Australia on October 20. Ukraine is represented by 15 athletes who compete in six kinds of sports.
