Ukrainian film “Weightlifter” wins as short film at Warsaw International Film Festival

Ukrainian film “Weightlifter” directed by Dmytro Sukholytky-Sobchuk got the main award in the short-films competition of the 34th Warsaw International Film Festival as it is stated on the website of the festival.
The film tells about a young weightlifter who prepares for the prestigious competition. In parallel, he has difficulties in the relationships with a girlfriend, trainer and relatives. The movie was made in the cooperation of Ukraine and Poland.

Also, the Ukrainian films “When the trees fall” by Marysia Nykytyuk, “Eter” by Krzysztof Zanussi and “Cacophony of Donbas” by Ihor Minayev were showed at Warsaw International Film Festival.
Earlier “Weightlifter” won at the national short films competition of Kyiv film festival “Molodist”. Also, this film applies for the first award of the film critics “Kinokolo” that will be given on October 26 at the opening of the film festival “Kyiv Week of Criticism”.

Earlier we reported that Ukrainian drama Donbass by Serhiy Loznytsia entered Oscar’s long-list.
Also, Vulkan (The Volcano, - 112 International), the full-length movie by Ukrainian director Roman Bondarchuk brought him victory at the 15th Golden Apricot festival in Armenia.
