The Eden Project: the greenest hotel in the world is going to be in Britain (photo)

In the garden of the British Eden Project, known for its green attitude towards anything, soon will be the greenest hotel in the world. The information has to be confirmed, but according to HotelShatter, Eden Project may add a green hotel to its holdings, consisting of a garden and two adjoining domes. This information sounds very plausible, because in the immediate vicinity of the project, there are not so many hotels - perhaps this is why the leaders of Eden announced plans to create 115 room onsite timber-clad to accommodate guests. Of course, all the buildings and premises, the construction of which will require about $ 9 million, will be set up with minimal damage to the environment.

The Botanical Garden The Eden Project (or Eden ) located on the territory reclaimed Kaolinite pit. The project is located located 1.5 km from the town of St Blazey and 4.8 kilometres from the larger town of St Austell, the largest city in the county of Cornwall. Eden has an educational component associated with environmental education, focused on the relationship of flora and humanity. It clearly shows the relationship of all living things and man's dependence on plants. This project combines science, technology, education and contemporary art.

The first part of the Eden Project, the visitor centre, opened to the public in May 2000. The first plants began arriving in September of that year, and the full site opened on 17 March 2001. Since that time about two million people come there every year, as the project is known far beyond the borders of the country: it is here to shoot some scenes of the movie Die Another Day – one of the movie in the series of James Bond. Eden is perhaps one of the main attractions of the county. Despite the distance from the highway and the capital of Britain - it is easy enough to find it, since the object is marked on all tourist maps. Path to the Garden of Eden is held on the winding roads, winding among low hills. Pointers mark the places of the development of white clay or porcelain plant nearby. In addition to the utilitarian functions (offices, cafes, shops), the centre has also an educational focus. Here you can get acquainted with the stages of the project, to walk along the exhibits, the main theme of which is “The role of plants in human life”. All the exhibitions are simple so the kids crowding the stands is a common phenomenon.

The main components of Eden are two biomes with artificial climate. One recreates the humid tropics climate (incidentally, this is the biggest greenhouse in the world), The other - a subtropical Mediterranean climate, South Africa and California. Each biome consists of four interconnected domes. The largest can accommodate the Tower of London. On the observation deck of the dome biomes are somewhat similar to faceted insect eyes. The covered biomes are constructed from a tubular steel (hex-tri-hex) with mostly hexagonal with a diameter of 193 mm external cladding panels made from the thermoplastic ETFE. Glass was avoided due to its weight and potential dangers. The cladding panels themselves are created from several layers of thin UV-transparent ETFE film, which are sealed around their perimeter and inflated to create a large cushion. The resulting cushion acts as a thermal blanket to the structure. All construction is lighter than the air contained in it: unless right fastening, then strong gust of wind would simply carry artificial bubbles far away. Therefore, experts regularly check fixings skeletons of greenhouses with special instrument. But this is just one of the problems. Another is that the life of the synthetic foil lasts only 25 years. It is hoped that by the time when it will need to be changed, people invent new stuff, better and more durable.
