Lesya Tsurenko, the Ukrainian tennis player met Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova in the first round of US Open.
Both athletes put up a decent fight, with the Ukrainian eventually beating her opponent in two sets (6:4, 7:6).
The world's No.24 will next face U.S. athlete Amanda Anisimova. The fixture will be played on January 16.
More Ukrainians will play their matches on January 15, including Dayana Yastremska, Karina Kozlova and Elina Svitolina.

As we wrote before, in October 2018, 18-year-old Dayana Yastremska and Wang Qiang from China met in the finals of the Open Tennis Championship in Hongkong.
It took the third best tennis player of Ukraine two sets to win. Yastremska gave only three games in two sets by spending a little more than an hour for the final.

Dayana Yastremska became the youngest tennis player who reached the final of the WTA in singles and won the title aged 18.
