Ukrainian schools increase security measures

Considering the ongoing Anti-terroristic operation, the state has to guarantee security of all members of educational process: children, students, teachers and parents. This concerns not only formerly occupied territories, but all regions, says Vice-Prime-Minister of Ukraine, Aleksandr Sych, during the cabinet meeting regarding the educational institutions and the new 2014-2015 study year. He pointed that there is a threat of terrorist provocations in crowded areas during the Day of Knowledge – 1 September festivities.

“With the help of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Security Services, regional administrations have to ensure the establishment of specialized inter-department commissions tasked with public security in educational institutions, as well as to prepare the security agencies for possible extremist and terrorist actions”, said Aleksandr Sych.

The cabinet meeting touched upon the state of logistics and staff resources of educational institutions for the upcoming study year, as well as the organization of study process for students who left the areas of military operations. “The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Policy have to immediately arrange a flexible mechanism for money transfers provided for education of children, temporarily evacuated from the ATO area”, said the official. “In unusual circumstances, and we are in the state of actual war, we have to search for flexible and quick solutions. We have to learn to react quickly to new situations and take all possible efforts to start a safe study year, first of all in Donbas area, where the armed activities are ongoing”, he said.
