Today, Kyiv marks the Day of the City, and the 27th charity "Chestnut Run" was held in the capital. It is reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Administration.

According to the report, the start of the race was given by the mayor Vitali Klitschko, who also took part in the run.

In total there were seven kinds of race in the program: a run in walkers, a children's run, a sports run, a courageous run, a blind run, a run with a dog, and a charity run.

The youngest participant of the race this year was a two-month-old girl (her parents ran with her), and the oldest was a 78-year-old man.
In total, according to the ministry, more than 18 000 people took part in the event.

Funds collected from the participants of the blind run and run with the dog will be used to support children who are treated at the Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy, as well as the Happy Paw Foundation for the purchase of necessary materials to an animal shelter.

Note, "Chestnut Run" has been held annually since 1993. For all the years of the project, more than 530 000 dollars were raised.

We recall that this weekend, May 25-26, Kiev celebrates its birthday - it turns 1537 years old.
