8-year-old Ukrainian wins European Chess Junior Championship

Eight-year-old Ukrainian Veronika Veremyuk has won the title of the European Chess Junior Championship held in Croatia.
The Kyiv-born girl scored 8 points out of 8 possible prior to the final match and secured the gold medal in her age group. In the ninth and final round Veremyuk is set to play white against Russian Alexandra Shvedova, who is trailing by two points.
Veremyuk became Ukraine's chess champion in 2015 among girls younger than 8 (June, 2015).
