Russia's humanitarian aid convoy of trucks enters Ukraine

The first trucks of the Russian convoy with humanitarian aid crossed the Russian checkpoint and approach the Ukrainian border, informs Reuters reporter on Thursday, the 21st of August. It is not clear yet whether the trucks crossed the border or stopped at the Ukrainian checkpoint, the agency informs. “At the moment Russian and Ukrainian customs began border-customs formalities to check the trucks”, Southern Customs Department spokesman Rayan Farukshin told Reuters.

The Ukrainian border guards began the truck checks around 2 o’clock Kiev time, says the Press Office of the State Border Service of Ukraine, as well as the information services of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, according to Vector News, more than 30 representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) arrived to the Russian checkpoint “Donietsk”. “It is yet to be determined how the ICRC representatives will cross the Russian-Ukrainian border”, said the official representative Galina Balzamova. According to her, this issue will be resolved during the representatives meeting of Russia, Ukraine and ICRC.
