Since July 8, Georgian airlines will be banned from flying to Russia. This is
reported]with reference to the Russian Ministry of Transport.

Earlier, it was reported that President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin
signed a decree according to which from July 8, Russian airlines are forbidden to transport citizens of the Russian Federation to the territory of Georgia.

The reason is the mass anti-Russian protests that are taking place in Tbilisi. They started after Russian MP Sergei Gavrilov spoke in the Georgian parliament. He sat in the chair of the parliamentary speaker and spoke Russian. His speech was interrupted by opposition lawmakers who demanded that the Russian delegation leave the parliament.
The protesters are demanding the resignation of the chairman of the Georgian parliament, Irakli Kobakhidze, the head of the Interior Ministry, Giorgi Gakhariya, and the head of the State Security Service, Vakhtang Gomelauri.

As a result of mass protests against Georgian officials, 240 people were injured, 80 of which were policemen.

Amid the protests, the head of the Georgian parliament Irakliy Kobakhidze resigned.
