Russia responds to Bolton's statement on military contract between Maduro and Putin
Russia considers fiction a statement by the adviser to American president on national security, John Bolton, on the conclusion of a military contract worth $ 209 million between Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador in Venezuela, Vladimir Zayemsky, RIA Novosti reports.

"This is another fiction, which Bolton apparently needs to maintain the illusion that Venezuela is an imaginary threat, and Russia, of course, is to blame for this," said Zayemsky.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently stressed that Russia and Venezuela have not concluded new contracts, the Russian diplomat added.

Earlier, US National Security Adviser John Bolton accused Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro of entering into a defense contract with Russia for $ 209 million in May 2019, at a time when hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans had to endure hunger.
“In May, while hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans went hungry, Maduro gave Russia $209 million for a defense contract to buy their continued support,” Bolton noted.

He said Maduro has grossly mismanaged Venezuela’s resources.

Assistant to the President of the United States focused on the fact that Venezuelans want real democratic leadership, not repressions.

In April, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized Russia for its attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela. According to him, thanks to the support of countries such as Russia and China, Maduro still remains in power.
