EU leaders not to recognize issuance of Russian passports to Ukrainians

The EU leaders plan to make a decision during the summit on June 20-21, which states the non-recognition of the passports issued to the Ukrainian citizens by Russia. They will also urge Moscow to release the Ukrainian sailors as Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty Rikard Jozwiak reported on
Twitter“Quite a lot about Russia in the draft EUCO conclusions. A call to release the 24 sailors captured near the Kerch Strait, non-recognition of illegally issued Russian passports and a call for the resumption of negotiation efforts for Minsk agreements,” the journalist reported.

Earlier we reported that the Ambassadors of the EU decided to prolong sanctions for one more year
. Sanctions were imposed for the illegal annexation of Crimea. The respective decision was made in Brussels within the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) sitting.  
As it was reported, the European Commission offered to prolong anti-Russian sanctions for Crimea’s and Sevastopol’s annexation. The new sanctions package will take force on June 23, 2020.
