
The grounds for the search was a year-old criminal case into buying and selling Bitcoin online, at kuna.com.ua. In May, 2015, Chobanyan was questioned by the prosecutor's office, providing all the documents requested. Two directors of Ukraine's National Bank later confirmed that Bitcoin business was legal, Ukraine Today reported.
During the raid, the cybercrime police presented a court order, which again accused Chobanyan of illegally trading in crypto-currency.
The (Ukrainian) Bitcoin community worked closely with the National Bank, the banking industry, lawyers, journalists and the public in order to standardize Bitcoin in Ukraine. A number of draft regulations, including legislative initiatives, were prepared and the ties with the global Bitcoin community was established.
