A court in Kyiv today has begun hearing charges against two Russian soldiers, Yevgeniy Yerofeev and Aleksandr Aleksandrov, who were captured fighting against Ukraine in east Ukraine.
Both men were brought to the court on September 29.
Yerofeev and Aleksandrov were taken prisoner on May 16 during fighting with Ukrainian government troops.
They are accused of carrying out terrorist activities, illegally crossing the Ukraine-Russian border and illegal weapons possession.
Ukrainian media quotes their lawyer, Oksana Sokolovskaya, as saying that state prosecutors insist that the court sentence both men to life sentences.
