The Russian Federation aims to destroy the indigenous people of Crimea, the Crimean Tatars. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko emphasized this during his speech at the forum “70 years of common declaration of human rights: agenda for Ukraine” as 112 Ukraine reported.
“If I have to turn briefly to the situation with human rights at the territory of Crimea it is arbitrariness, powerlessness and total militarization. However, one more crime takes place there, the whole nation, the Crimean Tatars are destroyed. The occupation authority aims to do the thing that Stalin failed to, to destroy the leaders, announcing Mejlis the extremist organization, to ruin identity and dissolve the indigenous people of Crimea in the Russian melting pot,” he noted.

Besides, Poroshenko reminded that UN General Assembly has adopted the resolution on the violation of human rights in occupied Crimea.
“I want to emphasize that Ukraine will continue to do everything possible for the early return of all hostages from occupied Donbas and illegally annexed Crimea, political prisoners, who illegally detained in the Russian prisons to Ukraine,” he added.

Earlier the Russian law enforcers searched the house of Halyna Balaban, the civil activist who works for the Ukrainian Culture Centre located on the occupied peninsula.
