Brett Winton isn't worried about the long-term impact of Cathie Wood's
disappointing 2021."You shouldn't be investing in equities if you're looking to make returns in three months," Ark Invest's director of research told Insider in a recent interview. "I'm very confident that over the course of a full business cycle, we're extremely well-positioned, and that good results will come for those who bias themselves towards innovation."Wood, who is Ark's chief executive, was a stock-picking success story in 2020, when Ark's Innovation ETF (
ARKK) returned 150%. But the asset management firm's flagship fund slumped by 21% last year, despite the
S&P 500's 27% gain.Last month, Wood conceded that Ark may have to do a bit of 'soul-searching'.
