Going into an interview with prepared questions is always a good idea. But for job seekers with marginalized identities, the interview is a key opportunity to investigate how a company will actually support them."A lot of companies may have on their webpage that they're committed to diversity," said Jasmine Hill, founder of the education consulting firm, Radiant Slate. "And then you get in there, and you realize these people are straight up crazy."The good news for job seekers, as employers scramble to fill roughly 10.4 million open positions, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is that interviewers have a high bar to clear to sell their company to people from marginalized backgrounds. Survey data from Glassdoor shows 76% of job seekers say a diverse workforce is an important factor when evaluating an offer or a company.Insider spoke to career coaches and DEI consultants to gather the best questions candidates can ask to get a holistic picture of a company's attitude and policies around diversity and inclusion.
