With more than 75,000 employees, Cisco is one of the biggest employers in Silicon Valley - but the firm is highly selective in its hiring process, according to Vice President for Global Talent Acquisition Karla Samdahl.Cisco hires between 14,000 to 16,000 people annually, Samdahl told Insider, adding that the $249 billion enterprise tech giant is especially keen to hire developers and machine-learning experts as it expands its software business."We're becoming a key player in software, and we've got so much competition in this space," Samdahl said. "We're thinking about what Cisco can add to lead that competitive landscape."In her position, Samdahl oversees recruiting for roles at the VP level and higher, reporting directly to CEO Chuck Robbins. Before that, she spent seven years in recruiting roles at Cisco after joining the company from Google in 2014.
