All 1,000 employees at the social-media-management company Hootsuite are enjoying four days of paid time off this week. The company is effectively shut down.CEO Tom Keiser said he knew his employees - like many Americans - were struggling with burnout. In fact, in a series of focus groups months ago, they told him as much.One employee, a single mom, said she felt like she "had to juggle everything" and that she never got enough quality time with her kids because she was "always thinking about work," Tara Ataya, the chief people and diversity officer at Hootsuite, told Insider.Another spoke about her family's struggle with a loved one's recent suicide and urged leaders to have "more empathy" for workers balancing work, life, and mental-health challenges, Ataya added.
