Germany to give Ukraine 136 million euros in financial assistanceGermany will provide Ukraine with 136 million euros in financial assistance, of which 48 million euros are non-returnable funds.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius made a statement at a public signing of the Protocol on cooperation between the Ukrainian and German governments.

"Germany will provide 136 million euros in the framework of technical cooperation to Ukraine. Of this total amount, 88 million euros is a loan, and 48 million euros is a grant, non-returnable funds," noted Abromavicius.

He also said that within the framework for cooperation Germany will support decentralization and urban development.

Director-General for development cooperation worldwide – country programs from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Andreas Gies noted that this year the amount of aid from Germany to Ukraine has increased.

"Last year, German assistance tripled to reach 96 million euros, and for this year we held talks about the amount of 136 million euros already," said Gies.
