20 died in car accident in Brazil

The highway crash between a bus and a truck claimed lives of twenty people and left nine others injured Monday in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, Latin American Herald Tribune.

According to the police, the accident involved a bus operated by the municipal health department that was carrying some 30 patients and family members to a hospital in the city of Umuarama when a truck going in the opposite direction hit the vehicle.

The collision occurred near the town of Cafezal do Sul on state road PR-323 and caused the fire killing the truck driver and 18 other people.

A woman pulled alive from the wreckage was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver was on his way home after delivering a cargo of milk to Cafezal do Sul, according to the truck’s operator, freight company Latco.
