The largest defense complex in the country for the deployment of the NATO battalion group was built in Estonian military town of Tapa in the last 10 years. This was reported by the Postimees.ee agency.
The complex was solemnly opened by the Minister of Defense Juri Luik on Monday, October 30 together with the representative of the Estonian Defense Forces and representatives of the allies.
It is reported that the base area is 38 thousand square meters. It includes 20 buildings, including three barracks, a dining room, study rooms and auxiliary buildings. The cost of the work is estimated near 43 million euros.

The base in Tapa has servicemen of the First Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Defense Forces and a combat battalion group of NATO consisting of 1,200 people, which includes soldiers and officers from Britain and France.
As it was earlier Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit) started its military exercise, joined by the NATO troops dislocated in Estonia on September 30. Kaitseliit troops are to train in conducting defence fights against an offensive by infantry.
As Kalle Kohler, Head of the exercise, said, the drills will summarize the three-year training course of training of South Estonia troops, and prepare the staff and units for the upcoming large-scale drills Siil 2018.
