Red Cross says thousands missing in war-torn DonbasSeveral thousand people are still listed as missing after three years of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, the exact number is not known. The International Red Cross reports that.

It is also noted reported that more than 600 missing cases, registered by the IRC, are not yet unsolved. The overwhelming majority of the missing persons are men, more than a half of the cases of the IRC deal with missing civilians.

"The IRC investigation conducted in 2016 disclosed that people in search of their nearest people need psychological and psychosocial assistance. To feel the need IRC launched a program for a small number of families in 2016 and it is planned to expand it in 2017. Apart from that the IRC medical investigators hold the training exercises and render technical and material assistance to hold exhumation, expertise and identify the human remains in collaboration with search and rescue teams, police, and forensic experts," reads the message.
