WTO to create expert group on Ukraine-Russia dispute over transit restrictions by Moscow

WTO to create expert group on Ukraine-Russia dispute over transit restrictions by MoscowThe World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Body took the decision to create the expert group in the dispute on Ukraine’s claim against the Russian Federation on transit restrictions through the territory of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan by Russia. Nataliya Mykolska, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, said on Facebook.

This is reported by 112 UA TV Channel.

According to Mykolska, there was a continuous and intense work of a team of experts building an evidence base, legally relevant Ukrainian position building, meetings with representatives of Ukrainian business and mandative procedural stages of the settlement of the dispute with the Russian Federation.

“This lawsuit is very important for us and not only for us, as the transit restrictions are the part of trade aggression against Ukraine and attempt to push Ukrainian export out of the markets of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, making delivering goods via alternative routes more time-consuming and expensive,” Mykolska wrote.

She also stressed that Ukraine is being supported by the EU, the U.S., Brazil, India, Turkey, China, Norway, Japan, Canada, Korea, Singapore and Paraguay.

Ukrainian side sent a demand to create an expert group in the case DS 512 “Russian Federation – measures on transit movement” on February 9. Russia dismissed Ukraine’s demand on February 20.
