Elections to Russian parliament in occupied Crimea to take place without OSCE observers - PetersenOSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will not send observers to monitor the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the territory of occupied Crimea. Head of the mission Jan Petersen said this on August 16, Interfax agency reports.

He stressed that "the mission is working in the interests of all 57 OSCE participating States," and the decision not to send observers to the Crimea "was made on the basis of this fact".

Long-term observers to other regions of Russia will be sent this week, Petersen said.

Elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will be held on September 18.
