580,000 children suffered from Donbas conflictThe conflict in Donbas “has greatly affected” the lives of 580,000 children who live in the combat zone, the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has announced.

In the statement the Fund stated that more than a third of these children currently require psychological help and social support.

“Two years of violence, shelling and fear have left an indelible mark on thousands of children in eastern Ukraine. As the conflict continues, we must have the possibility to reach these children in order to meet their physical and psychological needs,” Giovanna Barberis, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine, said.

She called the parties, involved in the conflict, to ensure safe movement and unhindered humanitarian access for these children.
