Ukrainian Rada calls on the foreign Parliaments and Ministry of Defense to respond to the threat of militants to impose the death penalty for the hostages to Donbas.
Verkhovna Rada is concerned about the voiced militants’ threats. They say to be ready to use death penalty against hostages on the territory of Donbass. Ukrainian Parliament make a pledge to foreign parliaments and international organizations to respond to this.
On Thursday 239 people's deputies voted for an appeal to the foreign parliaments, international parliamentary assemblies and international organizations in connection with threats to hostages’ lives. Hostages are being kept by the Russian fighters in certain areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
"Our particular concern is about recently voiced militants’ threats about their readiness to use death penalty against the hostages," – it is said in the appeal of Parliament.
In this regard, Verkhovna Rada calls on the parliaments of foreign states, on the Parliamentary Assemblies and on the international organizations to use all existing mechanisms at the governmental, parliamentary, non-governmental levels in order to give a signal to the Russian Federation about the inadmissibility of the use of assassinations and extrajudicial executions, tortures and other inhumane forms of treatment in relation to the hostages and locals on the territories in Donetsk and Lugansk regions’ occupied by Russia.
Ukrainian lawmakers also urge to demand from the Russian Federation to grant the immediate access to the International Committee of the Red Cross to the hostages, as well as involve the International Committe of Red Cross to process of missing persons’ search and bodies’ identification. Verkhovna Rada also request to urge Russia to transfer Ukrainian residents illegally detained by it and controlled by Russian militants.
In addition, deputies ask foreign parliaments to urge their governments to extend and strengthen the restrictive measures against Russia to the full implementation of Russian commitments in the frame of Minsk agreements.
