The officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has started to proceed the first Hasidic pilgrims who came to Ukraine for the celebration of the Jewish New Year – Rosh Hashanah in Uman as the press service of the official body reported.
“More than 130 pilgrims who aimed to Ukraine in a few organized groups for the celebration of the Jewish New Year were proceeded by the border guards of the Mostyska unit at the checkpoint “Krakovets” at the Ukrainian-Polish border,” the message said.

Moreover, the proceeding of the pilgrims has begun at the detached checkpoint “Kyiv”. It is expected that Kyiv will host 20 flights with 3,000 pilgrims in one day.
The heaviest flow of the coming people is expected on Thursday and Friday, directly before the start of the celebration.
This year the celebration starts on September 9 and will continue until September 11.

Earlier, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said it would implement all necessary measures to provide the security during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah. Emergency Service Chairman claimed this during the meeting with Eliav Belotserkovsky, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Ukraine as the press service reported.
As it was reported last year, the Hasid pilgrims from around the globe keep coming to Ukraine to celebrate the New Year according to the Jewish calendar. In 2017, Uman hosted about 30,000 Hasidic Jews, who came to honor the memory of their spiritual leader Rabbi Nachman at his grave on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
