The meeting of Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch, and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow began in Istanbul, as the Union of Orthodox Journalists reports.
The talks take place in the residence of the Archbishop of Constantinople and supposedly it will last for three hours.
“We are glad here, in the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to welcome His Beatitude and His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russ Kirill. Every time when we meet we have an opportunity to discuss questions of a common interest,” Bartholomew I said.

“Our churches are always facing the issues, which occur, and suffer from the external world, but every time, we found the answers with God’s help and we knew how to deal with the problems,” Patriarch Kirill stressed.
Moreover, he added: “You were right and you said wonderful words, but I think that there is a big difference between the dialogue of politicians and the dialogue which we have. In a political one, each protects the interests of their state, but the dialogue inside the church is different, it’s spiritual. Though we represent our churches, we have a mission from God to preserve the unity of the Church”.

It should be noted that according to the media, the patriarchs will discuss the question of providing the Ukrainian Church with autocephaly.
