The office of Ukraine at the statutory bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States
(CIS) was closed in August. Sergey Lebedev, the CIS Executive Secretary claimed this as Interfax reported.
“We state with regret that in August, the office of Ukraine at the statutory bodies of the CIS was closed,” Lebedev claimed.

He noted that the invitation for the participation in the meeting of Leaders Council of the CIS that will take place on November 2 in Astana will be sent to Ukraine.
He emphasized that “Ukraine did not withdraw from the CIS and de-jure it is the state-member so we send it all documents and invitations.”

As it was reported earlier, on April 12 Petro Poroshenko stated that he indented to present a bill on termination of certain articles of the agreement on friendship with Russia.
The President also called the Cabinet of Ministers for suspending the participation in the Commonwealth statutory bodies and supported the withdrawal of Ukraine’s representation in the relevant institutions in Minsk. Later, Iryna Lutsenko, the people’s deputy from Petro Poroshenko Bloc, the President’s representative in the Parliament, stated that Ukraine would not denounce a series of agreements within CIS, including those on diplomas’ recognition, recruitment and transit.

Later Poroshenko also claimed that Ukraine will reconsider all international agreements with the CIS.
In June, Ukraine withdrew two diplomats from the composition of the statutory bodies of the CIS according to the order of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
