The Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office asks the court to sentence ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to 15 years of imprisonment in the case on state treason, as Prosecutor Maksym Krym said during the debates in the court on Thursday, August 16, 112.ua reports.
It should be noted that Krym’s speech, just as the speech of his colleague Ruslan Kravchenko, was followed by the protests of Yanukovych’ lawyers, who were bluntly objecting the debates and involvement of a state lawyer.
“I ask the Honorable Court to find Viktor Yanukovych guilty in the criminal proceedings he’s charged with and sentence him to 15 years of imprisonment,” the Prosecutor stated.

Reportedly, fee-based lawyers of Viktor Yanukovych started a skirmish with police in the building of Obolon District Court of Kyiv, where the next court hearing in the case of treason against former Ukrainian President takes place today.
The reason for the conflict is the denial of access of the Aver Lex lawyers to the court hearing. The latest has also made a stand against Yuriy Ryabovol, Yanukovych’s state attorney, and his participation in the court hearing. The security officers refused to let Vitaly Serdyuk and his colleagues into the courtroom, the mix-up with security officers and policemen began after that.

Yanukovych is charged with state treason, assistance in deliberate actions against Ukraine’s state border, sovereignty and territorial integrity and assistance in leading the aggressive war against Ukraine.
