44 areas with 150 billion cubic meters of gas that need the investments are prepared in Ukraine as Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said.
The Prime Minister noted that the strategic task of Ukraine is a total refusal from the gas import and the development of its own explorations.
"As soon as we refuse from the import, we will strongly decrease the prices for gas and we will not be influenced by the international conjuncture of the prices for gas. It is our strategic task. It is not the handouts and discounts but the systematic final decrease of the prices that is possible only when we will extract gas in the amount needed by Ukraine, population and industry," Groysman emphasized.

He also reminded that Ukraine got more gas for the last year and the half of 2016 that for the previous period in 700 million cubic meters.
"UkrgazVydobuvannia" plans to renew the extraction of the gas at the abandoned explorations in Western Ukraine. The enterprise resumed the work in the prospecting of the explorations.

As we reported Russia increased the volumes of the transit of gas via Ukraine's gas transportation system - to 300 million cubic meters as the scheduled maintenance works at Nord Stream pipeline began, the object is temporarily shut down.
Recently, during the gas negotiations in Berlin, both Ukrainian and Russian delegations recognized the need of new kinds of contracts for gas transit. Maros Sefcovic, the European Energy Union's Vice President told that to reporters as quoted by Interfax news agency.
