The European Union announced its support of the U.S. “Crimea Declaration”. The EU representatives consider the document a principled stand on Russia’s illegal annexation of the peninsula, as Eurointegration reports.
“Crimea Declaration” reflects a strong and principled stand of the U.S. concerning Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopil and the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” EU representative stressed.
In addition, the EU reminded of its own non-recognition and condemnation of the annexation.

“We still support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and we are fully introducing our non-recognition policy, in particular by the restrictive measures. This violation of the international law is a direct defiance of the international security which has serious consequences for the international order, which protects the unity and sovereignty of all states,” the EU informs.
Germany and Poland expressed their support of “Crimea Declaration”. Heiko Maas, Germany’s Foreign Minister, stated that Berlin’s position concerning Crimea remains the same. His statement was published on the Twitter page of the Ministry.

“The annexation contradicts with the international law. We will emphasize it again and again. We are not ready, irrespective of the passage of time, to switch to the agenda,” the Minister stated. His Polish colleague Jacek Czaputowicz during his visit to Washington has also claimed his support of the declaration, as the Polish Embassy in the U.S. informed on Twitter.
