Russia reacts to US Declaration on Crimea

Russia reacted to the U.S. “Crimea Declaration” stating that it doubts its life-changing nature, as Maria Zakharova, the Spokesperson of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, wrote on Facebook.
In particular, Zakharova claimed the uncertainty of the American foreign policy reminding about the situation with the nuclear deal with Iran and the Paris Agreement. As she wrote, the decision Obama made was “re-decided” by Trump.
“We are aware of the cost of such “life-changing declarations,” she concluded.
Russian Embassy in the US commented the declaration stating that the current document “does not comprise anything new”.

“The State Secretary delivers statements and declarations on Crimea quarterly. We did not find out anything new. We have just confirmed that the partners live in a different reality. They are trying to operate with the international legal acts which comprise provisions on peoples’ right to self-determination, which were the basis of Crimea’s return to Russia in 2014,” the representatives of the U.S. Embassy stated.
Earlier, Mike Pompeo, the U.S. Secretary of State, stated that the U.S. would never recognize Crimea’s annexation and would continue insisting on the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Later, Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, expressed gratitude to the U.S. for the statement about Crimea’s annexation and urged other states to support such declaration
