Ukraine’s Cabinet approves Kyiv – Boryspil railway construction project worth $29 million

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the project on the organization of passenger traffic between the city of Kyiv and the Boryspil international airport. The construction is expected to take 13 months, and its cost is estimated at UAH 583.24 million ($29.1 million), Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the document, construction works are expected to cost UAH 428.48 million, while the cost of equipment and furniture is estimated at UAH 37.76 million. Other expenses are estimated at UAH 117 million.
The total length of the railway section between Kyiv Pasazhyrsky station and Boryspil international airport is 37.4 km.
The project includes two stages. The first stage is expected to cost UAH 502.95 million. 3.7 km of railway track will be constructed, one new station and a 272 meter long flyover railway line within a period of six months.
Moreover, two passenger platforms with open-door passenger areas around Terminal D of the Boryspil airport, as well as a 150 meter long open-door gallery between the passenger area and Terminal D.
The second stage of the project is estimated at UAH 80.3 million. A new stop, a high passenger platform near the 160 meter long flyover railway line will be constructed within seven and a half months.
As reported earlier, Ireland's low cost airline Ryanair is interested in creating a service center at the Boryspil International airport. According to the infrastructure minister of Ukraine, the corporation's executives would visit the facility in mid-July.
