The U.S. Congress made public the letter in which the representatives of Facebook board answered the questions, which Mark Zuckerberg could not comment during his speech in the parliament. In particular, the letter comprises information on which users’ personal data the social network has.
According to the letter, Facebook is interested in time, frequency and duration of the user’s activity in the social network, including the time when the open tab is in the background mode. Besides, the social network is looking for the information about purchases made on other websites, plugins connected to the browser, time and place of downloaded pictures, the use of the camera embedded in the social network, set applications and their identifiers, user’s contacts, call records and SMS history, the frequency of the cooperation with the other users.

Besides, Facebook has data about the cursor’s movements on the screen, names and types of the files kept on the device, settings and data about the devices connected with the one used during working in the social media.
Moreover, the social network records the nearest points of Wi-Fi access and the cell service.

The board of the social network informed that they have an opportunity to receive data about their users from the unaffiliated companies on both online and offline activity. Yet, they did not specify the names of those companies.
