The officers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and their Moldovan colleagues signed a memorandum on cooperation in the case of Mykola Chaus, a Ukrainian judge, as Artem Sytnyk, the Head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, told the journalists, 112 Ukraine reported.
"Regarding Chaus, personally I don’t get it, why the process takes that long. Obviously, it is not a big and global case. A trivial bribe of the district judge, but for some reason, the case, the process itself takes much longer than expected. Therefore, recently we had a meeting, and we signed a memorandum on cooperation with our Moldovan colleagues from the Anti-Corruption Center and in the nearest future, we plan a visit. Hopefully, the visit will expedite the procedure," he said.

Reportedly, on August 9, 2016, the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office exposed Chaus in receiving a bribe in the amount of $150,000. The money was found in two glass jars, which he himself buried in the backyard.
On September 6, the Verkhovna Rada supported the submission of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine on a provision of the agreement to detain and arrest the judge. Meanwhile, Chaus fled Ukraine. Since November 11, 2016, the judge was in the international wanted list of the Interpol.

On March 1, 2017, Chaus turned himself into the law-enforcement of Moldova. Right after that, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has announced its intention to demand his extradition to Ukraine for a pre-trial investigation in accordance with the law.
In September of 2017 Nazar Kholodnytsky, the Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, declared that the issue of extradition of Mykola Chaus from Moldova to Ukraine depends on Igor Dodon’s, the President of the state, decision.

Later the High Council of Justice fired Judge Chaus.
