47 people are included in the list of potential victims along with Arkadiy Babchenko, they were informed about the danger, as Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, wrote on Facebook.
“As a result of this operation, the investigation got the list of 47(!) individuals, who could become the next victims of the terrorists. Mostly, these are prominent Ukrainian and former Russian journalists. Today they were informed about the danger. We are going to provide them with security,” Lutsenko wrote.
Besides, according to him, the organizer of Babchenko’s “murder” offered the assassin to kill two more people.

“After Babchenko’s murder was ordered, the organizer offered the assassin (who acted in cooperation with SBU) to murder two more people. Besides, he said that there is a list of more than 30 people, who Russian special service intended to kill,” the Prosecutor General noted.
Moreover, he is convincing that if the organizer was detained before the “murder” of the journalist, all the other potential victims would be still in danger, and the staged murder gave an opportunity to get additional information about the list and the instigator.

As he said, the article of the Criminal Procedure Code provides such imitation and it was used more than 30 times over the past 2,5 years.
“The investigation received significant evidence of organizer’s connection with Russian special service, which we will report later,” he concluded.
On May 29 it was reported that Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist, was murdered in Kyiv. He was allegedly shot in his apartment. Ukraine’s police suggested that the murder of the journalist was connected with his professional activity. There were also reports on Russia’s connection.
Vasyl Hrytsak, the Head of SBU, at the briefing stated that Arkadiy Babchenko is alive, but the murder of Russian journalist was ordered by Russian special forces. Ukrainian citizen was enlisted for that.

On May 31, the suspected in the organization of Babchenko's murder was detained for two months without a right for the bail.
Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed that he knew about the staging of Babchenko's murder. At the same time, the OSCE has condemned the fact that Ukrainian institutions spread fake information on the “murder” of Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist.
