Kyivans mark Kyiv Day today. Traditionally, this day is celebrated on the last weekend of May. The Kyiv City Administration announced a series of events to be held in Kyiv dedicated to the holiday.
A fair of folk craftsmen will be carried out in Ivan Honchar Museum, the National Centre of Folk Culture, on May 26-27. Traditional crafts will be demonstrated at the fair.
A large-scale festive concert program starts at 13:00 Kyiv time on the main stage of Champions Festivals (a location which was opened on Khreshchatyk before UEFA Champions League) on May 27. The concert will consist of the performances of State’s symphony pops orchestra, folk-ethnographic band Kalyna, Revutskyi chapel, DRUM Art drums group, G-ART band, a National orchestra of Ukraine’s folk instruments and others.

During the celebrations of Kyiv Day, the road traffic on Khreshchatyk will be blocked, as Andriy Kryshchenko, the Head of Kyiv Police, informed 112 Ukraine.
“The traffic on Khreshchatyk is limited, we are also securing the pedestrian area in Podil, the police is patrolling all city’s districts. The special regime is remained of course, though there are fewer squads than it was within the past three days during the Champions League Final, still their number is enough,” Kryshchenko noted.

Kryshchenko also stated that the fan zone on Khreshchatyk will be dismantled after the celebrations of Kyiv Day, but he did not mention the exact date.
This year, the Kyiv Day coincided with UEFA Champions League 2018 Final. As we reported, around 20,200 fans came to Kyiv to watch the game. Check out Kyiv attractions our editorial considers worth seeing and do not forget to taste some Ukrainian traditional food.
