‘I hail the official decision of the EU Council on the imposing of the sanctions against five people for the illegal holding of the Russian presidential election in temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol’, he wrote.

Poroshenko is sure that the punishment for any illegal actions against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine inevitably.
‘My meetings with the leaders of the EU, France and Germany in Aachen clearly confirmed that the de-occupation issue and the restoring of Ukraine’s sovereignty over Crimea is one of the urgent priorities of the European agenda’, he noted.

Earlier Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine submitted a draft law to the parliament that provides the revoking of the Ukrainian citizenship
 due to the participation in the Russian election in Crimea.
On March 18, 2018, at the fourth anniversary of the annexation, the election of the president of Russia took place there.
The current President Putin beat a record of the support, receiving 56.2 million of votes or 76.65 percent of votes, with 99% ballots processed. 

Refat Chubarov, the Chairman of Crimean Tatar Mejlis reported on the low turnout in Crimea. According to Russia's Central Election Committee, 1, 079, 531 persons participated in the election.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recognized the Russian election in Crimea illegal and doubted the legitimacy of the election.
