Fire at armament depot in Balakliya: vehicle access to city is restricted

The police has restricted the vehicle access to Balakliya due to the fire at the territory of the former armament depot
. Viktoria Lyuta, the spokeswoman of Balakliya National Police Department claimed this as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
'We let everyone to leave the city but we do not allow to enter the city (except for the armored vehicles and technical machines). There are also some exception for those who have come to take the relatives away', she noted.
At the same time, the evacuation is not announced.

According to Kharkiv National Police, the personnel staff of Balakliya National Police Department was alerted due to the fire.
'The forces of the local police are used to block the roads; the checkpoints are set near the entrance to the military city. The calculation of the forces and equipment was worked out to provide the public order round-the-clock', the message said.

At the same time, Balakliya authorities recommend the local citizens to take the children from the schools and kindergartens due to the fire.
'The planned blowing of the shells took place and now the chaotic blowing takes place. We recommend to take the children from the schools and kindergartens', Balakliya Mayor said.
As we reported the fire occurred at the armament depot in Balakliya, Kharkiv region on May 3. According to the Defense Ministry, the fire tank ran over some explosive device during the execution of the technical works.

According to the press service of the General Staff of Ukraine, the dry grass caught fire at 13:55 at the former technical territory of a 65th arsenal in Balakliya. The works on the cleaning and demining of the armaments' debris that did not explode during the previous fire took place and the new fire has begun.
As 112 International reported, a series of powerful blasts took place at an ammunition storage facility in Kharkiv region on late March 23, 2017. The incident occurred near the town of Balakliya. Many of the locals were evacuated from the town and its vicinities. The fire caused by the blasts was finally extinguished the day after that, by evening of March 24. Numerous casualties and even a fatality were reported.
