As Telegram was blocked, Russians will use alternative messengers, including WhatsAPP and Facebook controlled by the USA, as Pavel Durov, Telegram founder, wrote in VK.
According to Durov, as Telegram was blocked, the quality of lives of 15 million Russians will worsen and the level of the terrorist threat in the state will remain the same as the extremists use encrypted channels to connect.
“The level of Russia’s national security will decrease as the part of personal data of Russians will be transferred from the neutral Russian platform to WhatsAPP/Facebook, controlled by the USA,” he wrote.
Durov stressed that the representatives of Telegram regard the blockage unconstitutional and continue struggling for correspondence privacy right in Russia.
As reported, Russia’s service providers started blocking Telegram throughout the country.

On April 13, the court in Moscow ruled to satisfy the lawsuit of Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media or Roskomnadzor and block Telegram in the territory of Russia.
